My favorite time of year is when school starts, even though it's been a long time since I was in school! It's my favorite season and it feels like a fresh start after lazy summer days, even more so than on January 1.

Reading: I got a coverall on my Summer Book Bingo!

Right now I'm reading the latest Louise Penny Glass Houses, and it's so good!

Knitting: Plugging away on a few projects, but I also fell down the Miss Babs gradient rabbit hole this weekend and bought this set:

Anticipating: Hopefully a few days at Myrtle Beach with my family.

Enjoying: I've recently started taking flute lessons. I haven't played in 30 years!

Knitting: I finished my Quaker Yarn Stretcher Rectangle!

Sewing: I finished a quilt top!

I started a Sunshine and Shadow quilt using batik's:

I made a knitting project bag:

Reading: For the book bingo category "written within 5 years of when you were born" I'm reading Odds Against by Dick Francis. And for "recommended by a librarian" I'm reading Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand. I'm about halfway through my list for the book bingo, so am on track to get a cover all.

Remembering: Our wonderful trip to New Mexico! We had a great time seeing the sights and visiting family.

Riding the Tram to Sandia Crest

Reading: I'm participating in Summer Book Bingo again this year. The sidebar on Mary's blog has a link to create a card.

So far I've finished a couple of books and have ideas for some of the squares, but others I have no idea. Exploring new genres and finding new authors is what makes it so much fun.

Set in a different season (winter): Murder between the Lines by Radha Vestal - about a young reporter set in1915 in NYC.

An author from the state where you live: Game Changers by Art Chancy - about the first African American scholarship athlete at UNC, Charlie Scott, and the civil rights movement in the South.

Anticipating: A trip to Albuquerque, NM (where I grew up) later this month to see my aunt/uncle and cousins.

Knitting: I finished Torquata and bought yarn to make Summer Camp on our trip, because the colors remind of me of the Sandia Mountains in Albuquerque.

Reading: A Front Page Affair by Rhada Vatsal. I found this book at my local library. It takes place in 1915 and is about a journalist who wants to more than cover the society pages. When covering a party, a man is murdered, she realizes this might be her opportunity to make her dreams come true.

I'm also reading a book my mom lent me The Venetian House by Mary Nichson. It's about a recently widowed woman who discovers her marriage is not what she thought it was, so she takes refuge with grandmother on the Isle of Corfu with her 6 year old son. Then a photographer with his own troubles arrives and things start to get really interesting.

Listening: I discovered two of my favorite Tar Heel sports commentators Jones Angell (who does the radio play by play) and Adam Lucas (who writes great articles) started a podcast last fall where they discuss the weekly football and basketball games. While I already know the outcome, it's fun to hear some of the behind the scenes stories. They also interview former coaches and players. It's great to listen to while knitting. They are very entertaining!

Anticipating: Going to see my family in a couple of weeks to celebrate my niece's 11th birthday! It's always really relaxing as they live in a beautiful part of southwest Virginia.

Knitting: I have less than 100 rows on my Torquata. Next month FO photos! I'm planning to start Therapy next:

Reminiscing: A couple of weeks ago we went on a retreat to the beach with our church. On the way down, we stopped for dinner in Wilmington and had our own private (albeit very small) balcony over looking the water.

Reading: The latest mystery from Susan Wittig Albert. #25 in her series!

Watching: I recently started watching some of the "Chicago" series. So far I'm hooked on Chicago PD and Chicago Justice

Anticipating: A trip to the beach with our church the weekend after Easter.

Knitting: I just finished a shawl that was on the needles for a year! Photos soon. I bought a beautiful skein of pink yarn at the Carolina Fiber Fest a couple of weekends ago. I decided to make Therapy, so bought Miss Babs Kaweah in Oyster (light gray) and Pewter (dark gray) to go with it.

Celebrating: A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! The Heels won their sixth national championship on Monday and it was so, so sweet!

Reading: One of my favorite British authors is Erica James and I picked up her one of her books via the Interlibrary loan program. It's always fun to see where books come from! I also just started a book about a choir that despite being told by the vicar to disband during WWII, they started their own choir. The story is told through journal entries and letters.

Anticipating: Celebrating my husband's birthday this weekend! If the weather is nice, we are going to walk around a trail near Duke, then go out to eat.

Celebrating: 5 years of marriage!

Loving: March Madness!

Sewing: I bought a couple of fat quarter packs a couple of months ago when my LQS closed. Spring always makes me feel like sewing, so I thought I would make a couple of drawstring project bags.

One of these days I will actually post on the 1st...

Reading:  Another Nevada Barr, the latest by Sarah Jio, one of my favorite authors. I also just started a book put I on hold at our library ~4 months ago. The Dollhouse Fiona Davis's debut novel delves into both the present day and a bygone era at the famed Barbizon in New York City.

Anticipating:  Celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary tomorrow. We're having brunch at the Washington Duke Inn, which is where we went after we got married.

Loving:  Being able to meet up with my family in Greensboro to see the Ringling Bros Circus before it ends.

Knitting:  Making progress on my Torquata: 2 colors down!
