My Life in Pictures - Week 8

Last weekend my husband and I met up with my family in Asheville and while we there we toured the Biltmore House. There is a classic place to stand and take a photo overlooking the house, but our shuttle bus dropped us off right at the  house so we didn't get one.

One of my favorite rooms: the library

The estate just opened an exhibit called "Fashionable Romance: Wedding Gowns in Film" and the costumes were on display throughout the house so it was fun to see them as we toured the house.

While we were there we celebrated my husband's birthday - a couple of weeks early.

Foggy drive through campus

And this was a shot out the door of the stairwell where my coworkers and I spent 1 hour 15 minutes during a tornado warning (one floor down).

It's been quite a week!

My Life in Pictures - Week 7

Crazy weather this week - frigid, freezing rain then warm.

Work was closed so I got to stay home and knit!

My husband surprised me at work with roses on our 4th wedding anniversary!

Anniversary lunch at Top of the Hill

I gave him the "traditional" 4th anniversary gift of fruit and he gave me the "modern" gift of an appliance - a new iPod nano to replace my 12 year old one which is slowly dying.

My Life in Pictures - Week 6

Finally back at the pool after missing two weeks due to bad weather and illness.

Gorgeous sunset!

Early Valentine's Day surprise from my husband. He saw it in the hall at church, abandoned from an event the night before, and thought to get it for me :)

Always bring knitting. I had 30 min to kill between the Ash Wednesday service and choir practice, so got one more row done on my niece's poncho.

My Life in Pictures - Week 5

My sweet husband waiting in a long line on a Saturday morning at the car wash to get rid of the post-snowstorm salt and grime on my car.

I joined the library in the neighboring town this week, because it has more programs than my county library offers, and it's such a beautiful space! It was expanded/renovated 3 years ago.

"Bookie Monster" -  the book sorting machine

After illness and bad weather, I am finally able to sing with the choir again.

Foggy day - taken from the top of my parking deck

Reading and knitting on a rainy evening after work.

Currently {February}

Reading: I started a new mystery series set during WWII and while parts of it are a bit far-fetched, it does provide a fairly realistic picture (at least to me) of what it was like for a young woman to live in London during WWII.

Watching: Carolina Basketball of course and the upcoming SuperBowl. Go Panthers!

Anticipating: Celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary on the 18th,  and a trip to Asheville where we'll meet up with my family and tour the Biltmore Estate.

Knitting: I've been working on a poncho for my niece using a Tulip Cardigan Dream in Color kit. She wears ponchos more than sweaters so I just used the yarn to make a poncho:

And a shawl in wintery blues, tans and greys:
