Asheville Weekend

This past weekend my husband and I took a weekend trip to Asheville, NC. It was slightly cooler than home  - mid-90s as opposed to over 100! Asheville has a great downtown full of bookshops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants. We stayed at a fabulous B&B: Carolina Bed and Breakfast which was within walking distance of downtown.

Views of the front:

I could have just hung out on the front porch and knit the entire weekend but there is so much to see and do so I didn't. I did buy some yarn, however :)

Friday night we  ate dinner at a great tapas restaurant in downtown:

We sat outside on this patio/alley:

Sat morning we  got up and decided to walk around downtown before it got too hot. We passed several interesting houses on our way:

First stop, the lys - in the brick building on the left:

When I did the KCBW I discovered that I've never used green so my husband picked out a shade (peat) that he said would look great with my hair (dark brown) and eyes (hazel):

After a coffee break at a cool bookstore, we headed off for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway:

Sunday morning we got up and explored the NC Arboretum:

  1. Beautiful place! I've been to the Biltmore and down that highway but you saw a lot more while you were there. It's a gorgeous area. A quilt garden? Great idea! I sew quilts too. I love your yarn color....hubby has good taste!
I like the way you put your YOP's on the left side of your blog. I'm going to try and do that very nice!
That was a great porch on that house and I like the other houses too. What a great weekend you had. Thanks for sharing it!
